SG 50 Singapore Youth Festival Art exhibition at Raffles City

The Singapore Youth Festival Art exhibition is an SG50 art initiative supported by Ministry of Education. It saw the art contributions of several students and schools revolving about Singapore’s SG50 theme to showcase uniquely Singaporean memories.

This can include items or scenes we all come to know off, such as food, iconic landmarks and scenes of the yesteryear (e.g. old-school sand-pit HDB playgrounds). The art exhibition is held at the Raffles City Shopping center on the level 3 atrium. You will be treated by a combination of standalone paper and clay sculptures, art montages and framed artworks. All the items on display are hand-made and hand-drawn with typically unique artwork style you’d expect from school art classes, which does brings back nostalgic memories of art classes when you are a kid. There is even an over-head projector which you can toy with to display the art like in class.

A number of displays are really outstanding, such as a couple of paper sculptures of lions and 3D “pop-out” paintings made by our very own primary school kids. So do make a date to check out these works of art when you are around town, the art exhibition runs from 9 July and open to public till 19 July.
