18/02/07 Update: Singapore Runners Registration
The official Ambank Kuala Lumpur International Marathon registration team will be in Singapore 2nd March 2008 7.30am to 9.30m at Mac Ritchie Reservoir Carpark (not on 3rd march as planned initially).

Got a letter from the FTAAA few days ago, but didn’t really had the time to update this as I was away for a few days, nevertheless here are the details of the Ambank Kuala Lumpur International Marathon 2008. Runners in Singapore can register on weekends at MR carpark/events tarmac area which is near the toilets (the one nearer to the entrance and not the one under construction that is!) just like last year’s race. Here are the details.

Event venue: Dataran Merdeka (Independence Square) KL Malaysia
Time: 4.30am
Organised by: City hall of KL (DBKL) and
Federal Territory Amateur Athletic Association (FTAAA)

    • Yes, I agree with you ramsam, I personally ran the 21km last year and was rather confused about how many loops do we actually have to run. I have a friend who was not passed the pink ribbon when he ran the loop 2 times, so he have to do 2 additional loops.

I heard there are some runners who did only one loop but got through and finished. I guess it’s very difficult to track actually how many people ran there and get the finishers in.

For the organisers this year, if the loop is still present, hope they will put a big sign board telling runners how many rounds to run the loop and maybe have champion chip mats as well.

  1. Terrible organization
    – two bathrooms in the whole race
    – running between cars
    – course not separated from open streets
    – hot drinks in the race stands
    – only one distance marker (wrong positioned)
    – people sitting and standing right in the finish line

Is there anything else that could be wrong in this 2008 marathon?

    • whoa! is it that bad? I didn’t run it this year, but did for last year’s- I never had an experience of having to run between cars. Last year’s one was relatively good though from my personal perspective, sound like this year’s one is rather bad from the feedback I get from other runners as well.

Isn’t it a safety issue with cars and runners on the roads at the same time?
